Religious Education at Kingsgate Primary School

The purpose of religious education is to support children in developing their own values and principles as well as contributing to their spiritual, moral, social and cultural development.

In Religious Education lessons at Kingsgate Primary School children learn about concepts, beliefs and practices within different religions and they engage with their own and others' cultural and life experiences.

Religious Education, which is part of the National Curriculum, is essential learning in a world where we want children to grow up tolerant and respectful of people of all faiths (or those of no faith) and to have an understanding of different cultures and religions. At Kingsgate Primary School our curriculum covers Christianity, Islam, Judaism and Hinduism.

Through a range of exciting lessons which include writing, art, drama, poetry, debate, cooking and visitors to the school, children learn about people with different beliefs, and their interpretations of the world. We believe that Religious Education enables children to understand how and why people live differently from each other and to respect their right to do so.
