Personal, Social, Health and Economic (PSHE) and Citizenship education at Kingsgate Primary School
We aim to help children develop their understanding of themselves and their role in society through the four themes of: 'Self-Awareness', 'Citizenship', 'Keeping Healthy and Safe' and 'Respect and Relationships'. Children are taught how to deal with everyday challenges such as understanding feelings, solving problems with friends and how to stay safe, including e-safety.
Lessons include class and group discussions and visitors from the local community, such as the dentist or nurse.
We have also developed a Cooperation curriculum to help children learn effectively and make the best of their opportunities in school and in their future lives. Children are taught how communication and cooperation with others can lead to greater success and how to set themselves goals and achieve their full potential. They are also taught how to reflect on their behaviour and solve problems independently.
